Description

The Food Acquisition Program, PAA, relaunched in 2023 by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, consists of the public purchase of family farming products, without bidding, to be distributed to people in situations of food and nutritional insecurity, to entities of the social assistance network, public food and nutrition establishments, as well as popular restaurants, community eaters and food banks, and the public and philanthropic health, education and justice network. In 2023, the PAA acquires a new format, prioritizing the promotion of family production by indigenous communities, quilombola and traditional communities, settlers of agrarian reform, black people, women and rural youth. A minimum participation of 50% of women will also be guaranteed in the implementation of the program, in all its modalities (previously 40%).
